Pioneer men's tennis team keeps Midwest Conference streak intact

Grinnell blanks both Illinois College and Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Grinnell College's men's tennis team continued its dominating string in Midwest Conference play, winning its 191st consecutive match against a league foe with 7-0 victories Saturday at Illinois College and Monmouth College.

Grinnell, which has shut out 35 of its last 41 conference opponents, opened with the day at Illinois College. Doubles winners were the duos of Alex Doane '28-Aman Kothari '28 (7-5), Henry Park '28-Caden Branum '28 (6-2) and Anshul Satav '27-Juan Diego Carpio '28 (6-2). 

In singles play, Grinnell got wins from Park (6-1, 6-2), Doane (6-3, 6-0), Kothari (6-1, 6-4), Satav (6-1, 6-0), Keegan McLaughlin '27 (6-1, 6-2) and Branum (6-0, 6-2).

The Pioneers, ranked 69th nationally, then rolled over Monmouth. Grinnell got doubles wins from the duos of Doane-Kothari (6-2), Park-Branum (6-1) and Carpio-Kaan Mac Donald '28 (6-0).

Grinnell won four of six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Those victors were Kothari at No. 2, Branum at No. 4, Carpio at No. 5 and Mac Donald at No. 6. Doane won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and Satav posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3.

Grinnell will bring a 7-10 mark into tomorrow's match against the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Winona, Minn.
