Pioneer women's tennis team posts highest finish ever at Midwest Invite

MADISON, Wis. - Grinnell College's women's tennis team posted its highest-ever finish at the Midwest Invite, earning second place after falling to 21st-ranked Whitman College 7-0 in Saturday's title match at the Nielsen Tennis Complex.

Grinnell, ranked 57th nationally, advanced to the championship round after a pair of 4-3 victories Friday. On Saturday, Whitman earned the doubles point by sweeping that round. Nichole Henning '26 and Lily Perrin '25 put up a great fight at the second flight, falling 7-5.

In singles play, Pari Chavan '28 battled toe-to-toe with the nation's 44th-ranked player before losing in three sets. Chavan lost the opening set 6-3 and won the next 6-3. In the tie-breaker, Chavan fell by a 10-5 margin.

Grinnell, 15-7, plays its final home match of the season next Sunday when the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire visits 10th Avenue Courts. The start time is set for noon.
