APPLETON, Wis. - Grinnell College's women's track and field team enjoyed a stellar day at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships Saturday, crowning its most champs in three seasons.

Led by Hannah Roth's '27 school-record performance in winning the 3000-meter steeplechase Saturday, the Pioneers tallied 120 points to finish fourth in a close race for the team title. Grinnell ended up just 19 points behind champ Illinois College.

Other Grinnell champs besides Roth were Juniper Schwartzman '27 in the javelin and Rajanea Landers '28 in the triple jump. It marks the first MWC crown for each of the three.

Roth ran the steeplechase in 11 minutes, 2.83 seconds to beat the runner-up by nearly 8 seconds and shatter her previous school record, set earlier this season, by 7.69 seconds. Roth is GC's first MWC champ in the steeplechase since 2017.

Schwartzman claimed the javelin with a toss of 38.38 meters, beating the second-place finisher who threw 38.07. Schwartzman's throw is a personal-best and second in program history.

Landers won the triple jump with a personal-best of 10.74 meters, which is third in program history and beat the runner-up by .06 of a meter.

Besides Roth, Grinnell dominated the steeplechase along with the 800. Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 placed fifth in the steeplechase in 11:45.13, sixth all-time at GC, and Diana Barba '26 was seventh in 12:09.40. In the 800, Hannah Roark '26 was second in 2:15.23, Tennyson Shultz '28 placed fifth in 2:17.29 and Sindri Bonner '28 took sixth in 2:20.11. Their times rank second, fifth and eighth in GC history.

Melanie Oden '25 complemented Landers' performance in the triple jump by placing sixth at 9.85 meters. Sara Booher '25 posted the second-best shot put performance in Grinnell history with a toss of 12.28 meters, good for third place. Kylie Galowitz '26 was sixth in that event with a throw of 11.83 meters.

The 4x100 relay team of Klaire Thompson '27, Ava Taylor '25, Maile Crowe '25 and Landers finished second in 49.38, the third-best time in program history. Shultz, Noelle Vu '28, Roark and Crowe were third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:01.35.
