Pioneers shut out IC 4-0, then topple Lake Forest 4-1

MADISON, Wis. - Grinnell College's women's tennis team cruised through the Midwest Conference regular season last fall, and continued that trend in the MWC Tourney Saturday.

The Pioneers punched their ticket to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fifth year in a row, and 14th time overall, by rolling over Illinois College and Lake Forest College at Hitters SportsPlex.

Grinnell, ranked 40th nationally and ninth in the region, has won 47 matches in a row against league foes dating back to 2018-19.

In the title match, the 18-9 Pioneers posted a 4-1 victory over Lake Forest. Grinnell won the doubles point with victories at the second slot by Erin Jarvis '25 and Lily Perrin '25 (6-3) and the No. 3 spot by Anika Sheth '26 and Pari Chavan '27 (6-2).

Grinnell finished off the victory with singles wins by Utsah Kalra '25 at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2), Sheth at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1) and Jarvis at No. 6 (6-2, 6-4).

Earlier in the day, the Pioneers blanked Illinois College 4-0. Jarvis and Perrin won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles and Chavan and Sheth added a 6-0 decision at No. 3. In singles, wins came from Perrin at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), Jarvis at No. (6-0, 6-1) and Isa Voinescu '26 at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0).

Kalra now ranks sixth at Grinnell in career singles victories with 67, while Jarvis moved to seventh in doubles wins with 63. On the season chart, Perrin collected her 21st doubles victory which is 17th all-time.

Grinnell will find out Monday its foe and site for the NCAA Tourney.
