Two minutes later, Northing chased down a ball deep in Piper territory on the left side of the pitch and fired a lofting, 25-yard crossing shot over the leaping Hamline keeper into the upper right part of the net. It was Northing's team-high fourth goal of the season and 19
th in his career.
Grinnell (1-4-3) outshot the hosts 25-14, holding an 11-4 edge in the first half and 14-10 in the second. The Pioneers also had a 13-9 margin in shots on goal and boasted 15 corners compared to just four for Hamline (6-0-1).
