GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's soccer team saw some early chances to score escape as Simpson College built a 1-0 halftime lead Wednesday at Springer Field.
In the second half, the Pioneers were still in striking range before the Storm scored two quick goals for a 3-0 victory in non-conference play.
Simpson won the shots battle 8-1, with Grinnell's coming from
Samuel Gojjam '27.
Simpson shot out to a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game, but Grinnell (0-1-2) stood fast the rest of the half. It remained that way until the 67
th minute when Simpson (1-1-2) notched a pair of goals and hung on from there.
Jayson Kunkel '26 and
Jack Alexander '29 shared keeper duties for Grinnell, with Kunkel giving up one goal and Alexander a pair.
The Pioneers play their fourth American Rivers Conference foe in four outings on Saturday when they travel to Pella to face Central College. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
