GRINNELL, Iowa – After huge performances at the Grinnell Invite, Grinnell College swimmers
Evan Feilmeyer '28 and
Nina Lyons '29 captured Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honors.
Feilmeyer, winner on the men's side, is from Ames, Iowa (Ames). He broke a meet record and won four events at the invite. He guided the 200-yard freestyle relay team to victory in 1 minute, 22.52 seconds to set a new meet mark. His other wins came in the 500 freestyle (4:39.60), 1650 freestyle (16:19.01) and as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team (3:05.74). His 1650 time ranks third in program history and is tops in the MWC this season. The 400 free relay's clocking is sixth in GC history. Feilmeyer was also runner-up in the 200 butterfly in 1:53.23.
Lyons, the women's winner, hails from Santa Fe, N.M. (Santa Fe). She won two events and swam the league's fastest time of the season in the 500-yard freestyle during the meet. Lyons posted a winning time of 5:14.97 in the 500 free, the 11th-fastest clocking in GC history. Lyons also won the 1650 freestyle in 18:07.46 and was on the runner-up 800 freestyle relay team that finished in 8:13.99.
