Grinnell women's soccer team earns 2-all tie with regionally-ranked Foresters

Pioneers' goal output is highest of the season against Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's soccer team may have been facing a team ranked regionally, but that didn't faze the Pioneers in the slightest.

Grinnell collected a critical point in the Midwest Conference standings Saturday afternoon, clinching a 2-all tie with league leader Lake Forest College on the latter's field.

The tie snapped a four-match losing streak to the Foresters and marked Grinnell's highest goal output against its foe since 2017.

Grinnell moved to 2-3-1 in the league and 4-7-2 overall, while the Foresters - ranked sixth in Region IX of the United Soccer Coaches poll - are 4-1-1 in the MWC and 11-1-2 overall.

Campbell Swaim '28 scored both of Grinnell's goals, including one four minutes into the second half after Lake Forest built a 1-0 halftime lead. Teya Lochridge '29 had the assist.

After Lake Forest went ahead four minutes later, Swaim found the back of the net in the 64th minute. The teams remained deadlocked the rest of the way.

The hosts outshot Grinnell 17-7 and had five corners compared to three for Grinnell. Swaim had three shots for the Pioneers, while Lochridge, Emily Roesler '28, Addison Thornberg '29 and Nora Lesmeister '30 added one each.

Grinnell keeper Peyton Dixon '27 made 10 saves on the day.

The Pioneers may face their stiffest test of the season Tuesday when nationally-ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse visits Springer Field. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
