Grinnell women's soccer team gives once-beaten Central all it can handle on Senior Day

GRINNELL, Iowa - Facing a team that has lost just once all season, Grinnell College's women's soccer team showed it was up for the challenge as Central College eked out a slim 1-0 victory Saturday at Springer Field.

Playing before a Senior Day crowd, the Pioneers battled the Dutch to a 0-all halftime stalemate as each team ground out two shots each. Seven minutes into the second half, Central scored what proved to be the game-winner.

Grinnell, 3-7-1, got two shots from Hollye Anne Brinkley '29 and Addison Thornberg '29 and one apiece from Campbell Swaim '28 and Teya Lochridge '29.

Grinnell keeper Peyton Dixon '27 recorded five saves in a strong effort in goal.

Central, 8-1, had nine shots compared to six for Grinnell and also posted five corners compared to two for the hosts.

The Pioneers travel to Beloit College on Wednesday. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
