Pioneer men's tennis team posts convincing sweep on Sunday

GRINNELL, Iowa - It was a true team effort for the Grinnell College men's tennis team Sunday as the Pioneers rolled over Wabash College and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point by identical 6-1 scores.

At even dozen players tasted victory for the Pioneers, who moved to 5-1 on the season.

Double winners on the day for Grinnell were Anshul Satav '27, Gervase Ngo '28, Kaan Mac Donald '28, Aman Kothari '28, Alex Doane '28, Devansh Punjabi '29, Garvin Murray '29 and Maxi Gutbezahl '29.

Grinnell opened the day against Wabash, posting a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles by Doane and Gutbezahl and 6-1 decision from Kothari and Punjabi at No. 3 doubles. In singles, Grinnell won at Nos. 1 through 5 with Lucas Willett '26 (6-1, 6-0), Gutbezahl (6-1, 6-2), Murray (6-4, 7-5), Henry Park '28 (6-3, 6-2) and Punjabi (7-5, 6-3).

Taking advantage of unseasonably warm weather, action moved outside for the UW-Stevens Point match. The Pioneers swept doubles play with the duos of Doane-Kothari (6-2), Murray-Ngo (6-0) and Mac Donald-Satav (6-4). Ngo won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while victories at the Nos. 3 through 6 spots came from Albert Bostoen '26 (6-2, 6-1), Satav (6-1, 6-1), Mac Donald (6-4, 6-2) and Keegan McLaughlin '27 (6-2, 6-4).

Grinnell will bring a 5-1 mark into next Sunday's match against Carleton College.
