GRINNELL, Iowa - Talk about a way to finish the night!

Grinnell College's men's swimming and diving 200-yard medley relay quartet of Rommin Adl '26, Chris Zhou '27, Spencer Pfaff '29 and Aidan Donovan '28 shattered records galore and eclipsed an NCAA "B" cut Thursday on the opening night of the 2026 Midwest Conference Championships.

Their winning clocking of 1 minute, 29.16 seconds at Russell K. Osgood Pool toppled the conference, MWC Championships and school records of 1:30.72, established in 2023. It also beat the pool record of 1:29.47, set by St. Cloud State in 2014. The quartet beat the NCAA "B" cut by .29 of a second.

Grinnell also won the 800 freestyle relay to start the night, as Evan Ingraham '29, Noah Tsukuda '27, Cadel Saszik '28 and Evan Feilmeyer '28 swam 6:49.04. That time ranks third in program history.

Adl now owns 19 MWC titles in his storied career, while Feilmeyer has eight crowns, Donovan has five, Tsukuda garnered his third and Zhou his second.

Grinnell has 88 points after the first day, 12 ahead of second-place Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The meet continues at 9 a.m. Friday.
