More of the same as Grinnell men continue to dominate MWC Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa - It was more of the same in terms of victories and record-breaking performances for the Grinnell College men's swimming team at the 2026 Midwest Conference Championships Saturday.


The Pioneers won four of seven events contested at Russell K. Osgood Pool as they upped their point total to 705.5 points after three days. They lead runner-up Milwaukee School of Engineering by nearly 100 points.

Spencer Pfaff '29 won the 100-yard butterfly in 48.54 seconds to eclipse an NCAA "B" cut and break his own MWC meet, conference, pool and school records established in the prelims. In the prelims, he swam 48.75 to break the MWC meet mark of 49.31 by Grinnell's Ethan Yuen in 2024 as well as conference, pool and school records of 49.16 by Kevin Fitzgerald in 2025.

The Pioneers also won the 400 medley relay in 3:18.36 with Evan Ingraham '29, Keely Yeager '27, Pfaff and Aidan Donovan '28. They broke the school and conference records of 3:19.27 set last season, as well as meet and pool marks of 3:20.82 from 2024.

Ingraham hit an NCAA "B" cut in winning the 100 backstroke in 49.10, which ranks second all-time at Grinnell. Evan Feilmeyer '28 won the 200 freestyle in 1:39.05 to beat the pool record of 1:39.19 by Michael Brus in 2014, as well as achieving an NCAA "B" cut. His time ranks second in GC history.

Noah Tsukuda '27 was third in the 200 freestyle in 1:40.38, Donovan placed fifth in 1:42.57 and Daniel Yoo '29 took eighth in 1:45.45. Tsukuda's time ranks fourth in GC history and Donovan's is eighth.

Yeager was second in the 100 breaststroke in 56.75, Chris Zhou '27 took third in 57.45 and Jafar Jarrar '27 was fourth in 57.96. Those times rank second, fifth and 11th in program history.

In the 400 individual medley, Antoni Staszkiewicz '27 was third in 4:09.12, Jack Cerone '28 placed fifth in 4:17.20 and John Kafumbe '28 was seventh in 4:20.95. Cerone's time ranks 18th in GC history.

Rommin Adl '26 placed second in the 100 backstroke in 49.23, Cadel Saszik '28 took third in 50.64 and Gavin Stiglitz '28 was fifth in 52.10. Saszik swam 49.84 in the prelims, sixth all-time at GC, while Stiglitz's time in the finals ranks 11th.

In the 100 butterfly, Ryan Lim '29 was fourth in 50.68 and Stiglitz placed sixth in 51.17. Those times rank fourth and 10th in GC history.

Feilmeyer now has 11 MWC titles to his credit, Donovan is at seven, Pfaff and Yeager have five apiece and Ingraham is at three.

The meet continues at 9 a.m. Sunday.
