GC men's tennis team finishes UW-Whitewater Invitational with victory over 35th-ranked host

WHITEWATER, Wis. - Grinnell College finished the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational on a resounding note, posting a 4-3 victory over the 35th-ranked host school Sunday.

The Pioneer men's tennis squad began the day on a dominating note, sweeping doubles play with the duos of Albert Bostoen '26-Lucas Willett '26 (6-3), Maxi Gutbezahl '29-Alex Doane '28 (6-2) and Aman Kothari '28-Devansh Punjabi '29 (7-6).

Singles winners were Gutbezahl at No. 2 (6-4, 6-0), Henry Park '28 at No. 3 (7-6, 5-7, 1-0) and Punjabi at No. 4 (7-6, 6-4). At the top singles spot, Willett brought his nationally-ranked foe to three sets before the Warhawk eked out the victory.

Grinnell, 3-1, hosts Wabash College and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point next Sunday at the Bear Center Field House.
