GC women's tennis team continues winning ways in MWC

APPLETON, Wis. - The new Midwest Conference season began just as the last one ended for the Grinnell College women's tennis team Saturday.

The Pioneers blanked Lawrence University 7-0, stretching their winning streak against league foes to 56 matches dating back to 2018-19.

The Pioneers swept doubles play with the duos of Logan Tom '29-Marta Gonzalez '29 (6-2), Margot Groundwater '30-Eliana Martin '29 (6-1) and Addie Persian '27-Kayla Surpless '28 (6-3).

Winners in singles were Laurel Buttrick '30 (6-3, 7-5), Luiza Kohn '29 (6-3, 6-0), Sofia Bolanos '28 (6-1, 6-1), Groundwater (6-0, 6-0), Persian (6-2, 6-0) and Surpless (6-1, 6-1).

Grinnell has a huge league test Sunday, playing at Lake Forest College.
