Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ted Schultz

Quick strikes pave the way for Grinnell women's soccer team at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. - A pair of quick strikes was all Grinnell College's women's soccer team needed to trip up Edgewood University 2-0 Sunday.

The contest was tied 0-all at halftime and remained that way until the 62nd minute when Rama Joshi '27 scored her first goal of the season on an assist by Zoe Antebi '30. It was Joshi's sixth career goal, which saw Antebi deliver a bullet of a cross from the left end line that went through the keeper's hands. Joshi was in the right place to gain possession and tap the ball into the net.

Just three minutes later, Teya Lochridge '29 connected for her season-high second goal on an assist from Campbell Swaim '28. On the play, Swaim worked the ball around several defenders and sent a pass out to Lochridge at the top of the box. Lochridge immediately fired a rocket that went over the keeper's hands into the upper left portion of the net. Lochridge now has three goals in her career.

Grayson Allison '28 was impressive in goal for the Pioneers, posting eight saves for her first shutout of the season.

The stats battle was essentially even, with each team taking 11 shots and Edgewood holding a 3-2 edge in corners. Rylee Howard '30 took four of Grinnell's shots, Joshi had three, Lochridge recorded two and getting one apiece were Lucy Collier '30 and Swaim.

Grinnell will bring a 2-3-1 record into Saturday's Midwest Conference opener at Monmouth College.
