GC men's cross country team rises to the occasion at Bradley Intercollegiate meet

PEORA Ill. - Grinnell College's men's cross country team rose to the occasion Friday, placing second of 14 teams at the Bradley Intercollegiate.

The Pioneers tallied 71 points, finishing only behind the NCAA Division I host school while beating third-place Drake University, also an NCAA D-I program. In all, 20 Grinnell runners posted season-best times.

Jack Lakin '29 led the Pioneers with a 12th-place finish in the 131-participant field, running the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 21.6 seconds. Ben Abelow '28, Leif Dahl '29 and Greyson Imm '28 finished closely behind, taking 13th, 15th and 16th in 26:31.8, 26:41.9 and 26:46.4, respectively. Rounding out Grinnell's list of scorers was Milo Flores '30, who was 20th place in 27:01.5.

Other top runners for the Pioneers were Evan Whildin '30 (23rd in 27:07.5) and Sebastian Manza '27 (24th in 27:14.3).

Bradley scored 15 points to win the title and had the individual champ in Caleb Lind, who ran 24:34.0.
