GRINNELL, Iowa – Feeding off the momentum of Hall of Fame and Family Weekend, Grinnell College's women's soccer team claimed its first Midwest Conference victory of the season with a 1-0 shutout against Ripon College Saturday.
Grinnell owned the shots battle at Springer Field 12-2 and also had 11 corners compared to one for the Red Hawks.
Addison Thornberg '29 had the lone goal of the game in the 67
th minute on what looked to be a routine pickup of the ball by the Ripon keeper. Thornberg showed some heads-up play when she raced toward the keeper, stole control of the ball when the Ripon player couldn't corral it and fired a shot into the net from near the top of the box. It was Thornberg's first goal of the season and second in her career.

Peyton Dixon '27 worked the shutout, making two saves in the process as Grinnell improved to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the MWC. Ripon dipped to 3-5-1 with the loss and 0-2-1 in the conference.

Teya Lochridge '29 and Thornberg added two apiece. Getting one each were

The Pioneers entertain Luther College on Tuesday. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
