GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's volleyball team wrapped up its own tournament Saturday with a pair of tough losses in Darby Gymnasium.
The Pioneers posted a huge rally in the opener before falling to St. Catherine University in four sets. St. Kate's won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-18, but Grinnell stormed back to take the third set 25-20. The visitors rebounded to take the next set 25-23.
Millie Leonard '27 and
Keira Sullivan '27 were again big at the net for Grinnell, collecting 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Kylie-Ann Smith '27 added 19 assists and served three aces, while
Sophia Ochoa '30 piled up 21 digs, Leonard and Smith had 12 each and Sullivan posted 11.
Grinnell then lost a 25-9, 25-17, 25-23 decision to Simpson College. Leonard had seven kills and Smith 12 assists and a pair of aces. In the digs department, Ochoa managed eight and Leonard and
Emilee Appel '29 each had six.
The Pioneers, 0-4 on the season, play at the MSOE Tournament next weekend.
