Graduated from Hartsville High School where he participated in baseball, basketball, football, and golf… named SC AAA All-Academic Team, Charlie Gainey Memorial Athlete Award… was captain of the basketball, football, and baseball teams… aside from athletics, was a South Carolina Scholar, AP Scholar, Furman Scholar, Wofford Scholar, Citadel Scholar, and Blue Devil Spirit and Community Award.
