Grinnell College’s Vinny Curta ’19 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week.
 
Curta, a 6-5 guard from Oak Lawn, Ill. (Dwight D. Eisenhower), helped the Pioneers post a pair of huge victories to keep pace in the race for the MWC Tournament. He averaged 29.0 points a contest and came up with 12 assists and six steals in that span as Grinnell improved to 8-4 in league play.
 
Curta erupted for a career-high 40 points in the Pioneers’ thrilling 117-116 come-from-behind victory at Cornell College. Three days later, the nation’s No. 4 scorer registered his first double-double of the season as Grinnell blasted Lawrence University – a team the Pioneers went to overtime with in December – by a score of 129-91. Curta had 18 points and 11 assists to go along with five steals.
