Grinnell College’s Tommy Pitcher ’17, from Ames, Iowa (Ames), has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week.
Pitcher was a perfect 4-for-4 in Sunday’s matches against Carleton College, the 13th-ranked team in the Central Region, and Saint John’s University. In the Carleton contest, he won 6-3, 6-0 in singles and teamed with Jose Coloma ’19 to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. In the 8-1 win over Saint John’s, Pitcher and Coloma won 8-2 at the top doubles spot while Pitcher also earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in singles.
Pitcher has a 4-1 singles mark this season and is 6-2 in doubles with Coloma. The Pioneers, who are ranked 14th in the Central Region, have a 3-1 dual mark this season.
