For the second time this season, Grinnell College’s John Lennon ’19 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week.
Lennon, from Riverside, Ill. (Saint Ignatius College Preparatory), recorded one of the best performances in program history while leading Grinnell to success at the highly-competitive Brissman-Lundeen Invitational Friday.
Lennon ran the 8-kilometer race in 25:05.6, placing fourth of 331 runners. That effort ranks sixth all-time at Grinnell, and is the best clocking for a Pioneer since 2009. His performance helped Grinnell to fifth in the 27-team field.
Lennon’s honor accounts for a Grinnell cross country sweep, as Mikayla Fujiwara ’20 was named Women’s Performer of the Week.
