Grinnell College's Lauren Chen '24 has been named the inaugural 2021 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Women's Golf Performer of the Week.
Chen, from Manhasset, N.Y. (Manhasset), tied for top honors with teammate Nina Kouchi '22 in the 70-golfer Luther Norse Classic over the weekend. Chen shot a 2-under-par 70, the second-best score in program history, on the opening day and followed that up with a 74 for a two-day total of even-par 144. That 36-hole total ranks sixth in program history.
Her efforts helped Grinnell to the team title, as the Pioneers set a school record with a 298 the first day and shot the second-best total in program history with a 300 the second day. That total of 598 shattered the previous school mark of 604, established in 2018.
The SLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week is Jarrett James of Illinois College.
