Ben Pope '12 (Maryville, Tenn/Alcoa), the two-time defending Midwest Conference South Division Pitcher of the Year, did nothing to take away from that standing this past week. In a victory over Central College, a team receiving votes in this week’s D3baseball.com national rankings, Pope pitched a hitless ninth inning to receive his first save of the season. He came back to shut down Illinois College in a divisional game, scattering five hits, striking out 10 and not walking a batter as the Pioneers won 8-4. He is now 3-1 on the season.
