Max Jacobson '14 pitched seven strong innings and his teammates pounded out 13 hits as the Pioneers rolled past Simpson College 9-1 Tuesday at North Diamond.
Jacobson scattered seven hits and struck out four while not giving up a run. His efforts helped him improve his mark to 1-3 on the season.
Jason Ormond '13 and
Andrew Myers '12 finished off the game with solo innings on the mound.

Jackson Markey '14 all had two hits for the Pioneers, who improved to 14-15. Simpson fell to 16-21.
Grinnell scored solo runs in the first and second innings. In the first, Spacapan had an RBI infield single and in the second
Walker Bell '15 hit a sacrifice fly.
The Pioneers opened up the game in the seventh with three more runs.
Drew Davis '13 and Goldfien each hit sacrifice flies and Gray had an RBI single to right.
Grinnell tacked on four more runs in the eighth as Spacapan knocked in two runners with a single to left, Goldfien had an RBI single through the left side and Sutton plated a run with an infield single.
Simpson scored its lone run in the top of the ninth.
The Pioneers play a doubleheader at Monmouth College on Saturday. The first pitch is at 1 p.m.
