Nikolas Ruden becomes Grinnell baseball team's first All-American in a decade

Pioneer senior earns 2nd-team honors from D3baseball.com

D3baseball.com All-America Team

GRINNELL, Iowa - For the first time in a decade, Grinnell College's baseball team has had a player earn All-America honors.


Nikolas Ruden '26, from San Francisco, Calif. (International High), earned a spot on the D3baseball.com All-America second team at the second base spot.

Ruden, recently named to both the D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region elite teams, was among the Pioneer leaders in nearly every offensive statistical category. He hit .391, going 63-of-161 with 16 doubles, three triples, eight homers, 109 total bases, 52 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He had a 1.168 OPS, .677 slugging percentage and .490 on-base percentage and was perfect on all 14 stolen base attempts. 

On the fielding front, Ruden posted a .945 percentage with 73 putouts and 100 assists in 183 attempts while turning 25 double plays. 

He established school records for games played in a season with 43 and stolen base percentage in a season at 1.000. He also ranked in the program's season top 10 for runs scored, hits, RBIs, total bases, at-bats, doubles, triples and double plays turned.

Ruden is Grinnell's first All-American since Graham Fisher earned ABCA second-team honors in 2016, and is the Pioneers' first D3baseball.com All-American since 2011 when Mike Nodzenski achieved the feat. Both are members of the Grinnell College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Trevor Testerman of Greensboro was named the 2026 D3baseball.com Player of the Year, Brady Stuart of Endicott was the Pitcher of the Year and pitcher Drew Tolfree of Ohio Northern was named Newcomer of the Year.
