Grinnell men's basketball team rolls past Knox

Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's basketball team sailed to a 124-85 Midwest Conference victory over Knox College Wednesday night at Darby Gymnasium.

The Pioneers had five players score in double figures, led by Jack Taylor's '15 32-point output. Luke Yeager '15 poured in 25 points and Julian Marx '17 added 15.

Aaron Levin '14 recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, Patrick Maher '14 had 10 points and nine assists and Cody Olson '14 came up with three steals. Tague Zachary '15 blocked three shots, as well.

Grinnell is now 9-2 overall and 4-2 in the league, while Knox dipped to 1-11 overall and 0-7 in the MWC.

The Pioneers led by four midway through the first half when Maher hit a 3-pointer and Dylan Bartuch '15 added a layup to put the hosts up 25-16 with 8:27 to go.

The lead fluctuated, with Grinnell up by nine with 5:14 remaining, before the Pioneers went on a 13-3 run to extend their cushion to 49-30. Marx, Taylor and Zachary all had 3-pointers during the spurt, while Olson and Yeager also came up with baskets.

Grinnell led 56-39 at halftime and outscored the visitors 68-46 in the final 20 minutes to secure the win.

The Pioneers entertain Carroll University Saturday at Darby Gymnasium. Game time is 1 p.m.
