Grinnell men's basketball team, 10 players honored for academics by NABC

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College men's basketball team was well-represented in terms of awards from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

The Pioneers earned the 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award and also had 10 players selected to the NABC Honors Court, which is for juniors, seniors and graduate students with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher. Honors Court selections from Grinnell were John Vincent '26, Nick Courtney '26, Owen Theus '26, Sean Murphy '26, Sean Walser '26, Zach Rosen '26, Kai Te Huki '27, Nick Lundy '27, Strahinja Nikolic '27 and Tanner Deal '27. Over 2,300 players were named to the Honors Court.

Grinnell was also one of more than 400 squads to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award, which goes to teams with GPAs of 3.0 or higher for the 2025-26 academic year.

"College basketball student-athletes do incredible things on the court, but their achievements in the classroom are equally worthy of celebration," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is one of the NABC's core values, and the hundreds of programs and thousands of athletes represented on these awards reinforce the commitment to academic success that exists across all levels of our sport."
