Box Score 2 BELOIT, Wis. – The Grinnell College volleyball team bounced back from Friday night's loss at Lake Forest College with a pair of big victories Saturday.
The Pioneers knocked off Beloit College in four sets in a Midwest Conference match and then toppled North Central University of Minnesota in four sets.
Grinnell beat Beloit 22-25, 26-24, 25-17 and 25-18.
Sydney Vrecenar '18 had 11 kills and hit .320 for the Pioneers, while
Claire Weidman '15 and
Natalie Duncombe '15 each had 10 kills.
Margaret Giles '18 dished out 39 assists and Weidman served up six aces.
Sydney McClendon '16 and
Lindsay Fujimoto '15 had 14 digs apiece, Weidman added 12 and Giles 11. Giles had three total blocks.
The Pioneers followed with a 21-25, 25-11, 25-17 and 25-18 win over North Central. Weidman had an incredible hitting performance, pounding down 16 kills with a .500 efficiency. Duncombe was also impressive with 13 kills and a .367 efficiency.
Giles had 45 assists and three aces, while Fujimoto came up with 13 digs and Weidman 10.
Evelyn Weidman '17 added five total blocks.
Grinnell is now 8-16 overall and 2-4 in the MWC. The Pioneers host Illinois College next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Darby Gymnasium.
