Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – Five Grinnell College men's basketball players tallied in double figures as the Pioneers raced past Presentation College 133-119 in non-conference play at Darby Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.
Jack Taylor '15 led the way with 28 points, while
Julian Marx '17 had 24 and
Luke Yeager '15 scored 23.
Braedon Bayer '18 poured in 21 points and
Tague Zachary '15 had 10.
Zachary also had seven rebounds and four blocks, while Bayer added six assists and two steals. Marx contributed two steals and
Nick Curta '17 seven boards.
Grinnell is now 3-3 on the season, while Presentation suffered its first loss and is 4-1.
Grinnell raced out to a 78-57 halftime lead. Presentation came back in the second half, cutting it to four points at 93-89 with 13:09 left.
It was still a six-point edge a bit later before the Pioneers all but put the game away with an 11-2 run. Yeager made a field goal and Marx a 3-pointer before Taylor added a layup and free throw.
After Presentation scored, Taylor drained a 3-pointer to put the Pioneers up 118-103 with 7:06 left. The Saints never got closer than nine points after that.
The Pioneers jump back into Midwest Conference play Wednesday when Cornell College visits Darby Gymnasium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
