GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's basketball won a key 128-110 decision against Beloit College Saturday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.
Jack Taylor '15 had 32 points and two steals for the Pioneers, who improved to 6-5 in the Midwest Conference and 8-8 overall.
Luke Yeager '15 added 23 points,
Braedon Bayer '18 and
Jacob Ekstrand '18 had 12 each and
Ikaika Phillip '18 scored 10.
Nick Curta '17 grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals. Yeager also had two steals and
Danny Thomas '22 dished out four assists.
Beloit fell to 4-8 in the MWC and 5-12 in all games.
The game was tight most of the first half, with the Pioneers leading by just four before going on a 10-0 run. Ekstrand and Taylor each hit 3-pointers to start the spurt. Taylor followed with a free throw and trey to put Grinnell ahead 69-55 with :54 left in the first half.
Grinnell led 71-59 at intermission. Beloit got as close as six before Phillip made a 3-pointer, Taylor drained a jumper and Yeager hit a trey during an eight-point run to make it 91-76 with 13:01 left.
Grinnell never looked back after that en route to victory.
