GRINNELL, Iowa - The Illinois College women's basketball team shot out to a 34-24 halftime lead on its way to a 72-47 Midwest Conference win over Grinnell College Tuesday at Darby Gymnasium.

Hannah McGinnis had a double-double for the Lady Blues, who moved to 8-4 in the league and 11-6 overall. The visitors also outrebounded Grinnell 49-26.

Grinnell, 5-7 in the MWC and 7-10 in all games, got 18 points from
Kayla Morrissey '18. She also had two steals, as did
Alissa Hirsh '16 and
Anne Boldt '16.

Hirsh dished out five assists and
Alex Neckopulos '17 grabbed five rebounds.

Grinnell never led, but was within one at 12-11 on Boldt's layup with 13:36 to go in the first half. The Lady Blues countered with a seven-point run en route to their 10-point halftime lead.

The Pioneers opened the second-half scoring with a jumper by Neckopulos before the Lady Blues scored the next six points as they pulled away for the win.

Grinnell plays at Ripon College on Saturday. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
