GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 102-75 victory over Crossroads College Sunday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.
Julian Marx led Grinnell's balanced scoring attack with 23 points, while
Ky-Sean Johnson had 22 and
Kyle Parker 16. Johnson hit 4-of-7 3-pointers, while Marx was 5-of-11 from beyond the arc.
Jacob Ekstrand had five rebounds,
Nathan Balcom and
Matt Jasaitis came up with three steals each and three players had three assists.
Grinnell led just 9-8 before breaking things open with a 16-0 run.
Nick Curta began things with a layup before Parker hit two for a 15-8 cushion.
Danny Thomas followed with a traditional three-point play, Johnson made a basket, Marx drained a trey and Curta got another layup for a 25-8 edge. The Pioneers cruised to a 61-35 halftime lead en route to the win.
The Pioneers entertain Wartburg College Tuesday at Darby Gymnasium. Game time is at 7 p.m.
