MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Grinnell College men's basketball team lost a 142-135 decision at Monmouth College on Tuesday night.
Julian Marx '17 had 24 points for the Pioneers, hitting 6-of-14 shots from 3-point land, while
Vinny Curta '19 tallied 21,
Braedon Bayer '18 had 18 and
Ky-Sean Johnson '19 tallied 16. Johnson drained 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc.
Danny Thomas '18 put in 13.
Bayer dished out six assists,
Nick Curta '17 grabbed seven rebounds and multiple players had two steals each.
The game was back and forth, with Grinnell holding a 69-68 lead at halftime. The Pioneers continued to lead in the second half before the Fighting Scots rallied.
Grinnell, 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the Midwest Conference, host Carroll University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Darby Gymnasium.
