AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Grinnell College got out to the early lead before the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh rallied for a 5-3 baseball win Sunday.
The Pioneers, who outhit UW-Oshkosh 10-8, got two hits from
Anthony Mack '16 and
Matt Hammond '17.
Matt Godinsky '16 had a homer, a solo shot to left, to put the Pioneers up 1-0 in the top of the third inning.
UW-Oshkosh came back with two-run outputs in both the fourth and sixth innings to grab a 4-1 lead.
Grinnell got a run in the seventh when
Niko Takayesu '17 had an RBI single to right, and added another score in the eighth when
Sam Galanek '18 knocked in a run with a single to center.
UW-Oshkosh closed out the scoring with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
Andrew Mack '18 worked a complete game on the mound for the Pioneers and struck out five.
Grinnell, 2-8, plays its first home game of the season Wednesday when Central College visits Pioneer Park. Game time is 2 p.m.
