Grinnell 6, Lake Forest 3WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Grinnell College men's tennis team opened Midwest Conference play Saturday with 6-3 wins over both Carroll University and Lake Forest College.

In the win over Carroll, Grinnell got victories at Nos. 3 through 6 singles with
Aaron Lapkin '15 (7-6, 6-3),
Tracy Johnson '16 (6-4, 6-2),
Charlie Wilhelm '15 (6-3, 6-1) and
Tommy Pitcher '17 (6-2, 6-1).

In doubles,
Emilio Gomez '15 and Johnson won 8-6 at the second spot and
C.J. Ray '16 teamed with
Rob Storrick '15 to win 8-5 at No. 3.

In the win over Lake Forest, Grinnell got wins at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles from Gomez (6-2, 1-6, 12-10), Johnson (6-0, 6-0), Wilhelm (6-4, 6-1) and Ray (6-2, 6-0).

Grinnell won at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles with the teams of
Elliott Czarnecki '15-Pitcher (9-7) and Gomez-Johnson (8-6).

Grinnell, ranked 17th in the region, is now 18-9 overall.Â
