The Pioneers, ranked 12th in the Central Region, split matches with fellow regionally-ranked teams in Madison, Wis. They defeated 15th-ranked Luther College 5-4 and lost a narrow 5-4 contest against No. 17. Carthage College.

Grinnell collected wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 6 singles against Luther from
Cole Miller (Corte Madera, Calif./San Francisco University High School) '17 (7-6, 6-1),
Aaron Lapkin (Grand Junction, Colo./Cheyenne East) '15 (7-6, 7-6) and
Charlie Wilhelm (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) '15 (6-3, 6-2).

In doubles, the Pioneers won at No. 1 with the team of
Elliott Czarnecki (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) '15-
Tommy Pitcher (Ames, Iowa/Ames) '17 (8-6) and No. 3 with
C.J. Ray (Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa) '16 and Miller (8-3).

In the match with Carthage, Grinnell won two of three doubles matches with wins by the No. 2 squad of
Tracy Johnson (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa East) '16 and
Emilio Gomez (Las Vegas, N.M./Robertson) '15 (9-8) and No. 3 team of Ray and Miller (8-5).

In singles, Johnson won 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 at the No. 4 spot and Pitcher posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6.

In the Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center Field House, the Pioneers defeated Grand View University 7-2 and lost 6-3 to Hastings College.

In the win over Grand View, Grinnell won at Nos. 2 through 6 singles with
Bryson Cale (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) '16 (6-4, 6-2),
Sam Catanzaro (Santa Monica, Calif./Concord) '16 (7-5, 6-2),
Will Hamilton (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) '17 (6-2, 6-2),
Caleb Kumar (Elmhurst, Ill./Timothy Christian) '16 (6-2, 6-3) and
John Gernon (Hiawatha, Kan./Hiawatha) '15 (6-1, 6-4).

In doubles, Catanzaro and Hamilton won 8-3 at the second spot and
Conor Cunningham (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) '15 and
James Geary (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill South) '18 were victorious 8-2 at No. 3.

Against, Hastings, Kumar won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Gernon posted a 6-4, 7-6 at No. 6. At No. 2 doubles, Catanzaro and Hamilton teamed up for an 8-4 victory.
