GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College clinched at least a share of the Midwest Conference regular-season title Saturday with 9-0 wins over Lawrence University and Ripon College.
 
In the win over Lawrence, singles decisions came from Elliott Czarnecki '15 (6-2, 6-1), Cole Miller '17 (6-1, 6-2), Emilio Gomez '15 (6-4, 6-1), Aaron Lapkin '15 (6-1, 6-0), Tracy Johnson '16 (6-3, 6-1) and Charlie Wilhelm '15 (6-0, 6-1).
 
In doubles, victories were by the teams of Czarnecki-Tommy Pitcher '17 (8-2), Gomez-Johnson (8-2) and Miller-C.J. Ray '15 (8-0).
 
In the Ripon match, Grinnell won singles matches with Wilhelm (6-1, 6-1), Pitcher (6-0, 6-0), John Gernon '15 (6-1, 6-0), Ameer Shujjah '16 (6-0, 6-0) and Ryan Hautzinger '15 (6-0, 6-0).
 
Johnson and Pitcher won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Conor Cunningham '15 and Beau Bressler '16 posted an 8-0 victory at the second spot.
 
Grinnell also won No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
 
The Pioneers, ranked 17th in the Central Region, improved to 8-0 in the MWC and 25-10 overall. They entertain St. Norbert College at 2 p.m. Sunday.
