GRINNELL, Iowa – A sizzling-hot shooting performance sent the Grinnell College men's basketball team to a 124-100 victory over Cornell College Wednesday at Darby Gymnasium.
The Pioneers shot 46 percent from 3-point land, hitting 29-of-63 long balls, to improve to 5-5 in the Midwest Conference and 8-7 in all games. Cornell fell to 3-7 in league play and 5-10 overall.
Kyle Parker '17 was 7-of-15 from beyond the arc to finish with 25 points, while
Ky-Sean Johnson '19 scored 23 points with the aid of 7-of-12 shooting from 3-point land.
Julian Marx '17 was 6-of-10 in 3-point shooting to finish with 20 points, while
Vinny Curta '19 recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.
Mike Porter '17 had three steals.
Grinnell was ahead 14-12 before opening things up with a 13-point run.
Nick Curta '17 had a layup,
Jacob Ekstrand '18 a 3-pointer and
Matt Jasaitis '18 another trey for a 22-12 lead.
Johnson then came up with a basket and Parker a 3-pointer to make it 27-12 with 12:09 left in the first half.
The Pioneers were up 64-51 en route to the easy win.
