BELOIT, Wis. – The Grinnell College men's basketball team saw a second-half lead evaporate as Beloit College rallied for a 99-98 home victory Saturday afternoon in Midwest Conference play.
The Pioneers, who are 8-8 overall and 5-6 in league action, built a 66-46 halftime lead and were up 89-61 with 12:45 left in the game.
With the win, Beloit moved to 7-10 overall and 4-7 in the league.
Julian Marx '17 led Grinnell with 23 points, while
Vinny Curta '19 tallied 18 and
Ky-Sean Johnson '19 had 12. Curta and
Kyle Parker '17 each dished out two assists,
Matt Jasaitis '18 came up with two steals and
Jacob Ekstrand grabbed four rebounds.
Grinnell led by as many as 22 points in the first half and was up by 28 in the second stanza on a jumper by Curta. The Pioneers were still ahead 96-81 with 6:28 left when the hosts finished with an 18-2 run.
Grinnell plays at Illinois College on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
