RIPON, Wis. – Ripon College outlasted Grinnell College 100-89 Saturday afternoon in Midwest Conference men's basketball play.
Julian Marx '17 had 23 points for the Pioneers, hitting 5-of-9 treys in the process.
Kyle Parker '17 added 14 points, while
Jacob Ekstrand '18 and
Danny Thomas '18 had 10 each.
Vinny Curta '18 came up with five assists and two steals, while Ekstrand blocked two shots and grabbed five rebounds.
Grinnell is now 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the league, while Ripon moved to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in MWC play.
The Pioneers did break out to a great start, leading by 12 when Marx's 3-pointer made it 16-4 with 16:51 left. But Ripon gradually rallied and was up 45-40 at the break.
Grinnell did grab one final lead, that coming at 48-47 on a 3-pointer by
Gus King '18 with 18:38 left in the game. But the Red Hawks responded with a key seven-point run en route to victory.
Grinnell hosts Knox College at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Darby Gymnasium.
