ResultsWAVERLY, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's track and field team put together a strong performance Saturday by taking runner-up honors at the Wartburg Indoor Invitational.

The Pioneers tallied 76 points and finished only behind the host school in the eight-team meet.

Grinnell collected victories from
Stewart Bass in the 5000-meter run (16:35.34) and
Ibuki Ogasawara in the pole vault (9-8 ½).

The Pioneers dominated the 5000, as those immediately following Bass were
Alex Mundell (16:55.69),
Connor Gregorich-Trevor (17:07.85), Ian Maolone (17:17.18),
Aidan Healey (17:19.43) and
Connor Mulligan (18:52.08).

The 4x200 relay team of
Andrew Shults,
Colton Silvia,
Jonathan Braun and
Ed Hardman was second in 1:34.59, while the 4x400 relay team of Silvia,
Zach McGriff, Braun and Hardman took seventh in 3:35.05.

Nate Kolacia was third in the mile in 4:23.05,
Adam Dalton took sixth in 4:32.86,
Joel Baumann placed seventh in 4:33.13 and
Joshua Jensen was eighth in 4:37.67. Kolacia was also fifth in the 800 in 1:59.46.

Placing eighth in the 60 dash was Shults in 7.56. His time of 7.34 in the preliminaries ranks fourth in program history.

James Page recorded the sixth-best weight throw performance in program history.
