GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's basketball team lost its regular-season finale Saturday, falling 67-60 to Illinois College at Darby Gymnasium.
Alissa Hirsh scored 16 points and had two assists for the Pioneers, who are 12-6 in the Midwest Conference and 15-8 overall.
Kayla Morrissey added 12 points and two blocks, while
Anne Boldt also had 12 points.
Alex Neckopulos came up with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Grinnell led 16-15 after one period before settling for a 31-all halftime lead. The Pioneers were ahead 45-43 after three quarters and stretched their lead to four points twice in the final frame, the last at 49-45 on Hirsh's basket.
However, the Lady Blues countered with an eight-point run and never surrendered the lead after that to improve to 9-9 in league play and 12-11 overall.
Grinnell's season continues next Friday with a MWC Tournament semifinal test against Cornell College in De Pere, Wis.
