In a mid-week non-conference matchup, Grinnell took the win over Central College 16-6 at Kuiper Athletic Complex in Pella, Iowa.  Leading the charge for the offense were Anthony Mack '16 who drove in six runs and Teague Towner '17 added four hits. 
 
With the weather seemingly skipping spring and going right to summer, the temperatures flirted with 70 degrees and abundant sunshine ruled the day.  In the top of the first inning, the Pioneers exploded for seven runs lead by Mack's three-run two-out double.
 
Central stayed close for a while, adding two runs in the second and then the two teams traded one and two run innings in the fourth and fifth respectively.  At that point the game was still in doubt with the score 10-5 at the end of the fifth inning. 
 
In the top of the sixth though, the Pioneers added another big inning, scoring six runs, highlighted by a pair of two-run singles off the bats of Coby Klar '16 and Ryan Penaflor '16.  Each Pioneer hitter reached base and eight of the nine had at least one RBI.  Towner and Benjamin Wong '18 both scored three times.    
 
Noah Mathews '17 was the winning pitcher delivering the first three innings.   Out of the bullpen came quality relief as Christian Baumann '18 and Jay Goldsher '18 combined for four innings and zero earned runs.  
 
Grinnell runs their record to 17-4 while Central drops to 6-14.
