GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's track and field team had a solid effort at its own Dick Young Classic Saturday, placing third in the seven-team field.
The Pioneers tallied 106 points at the Darren Young Track and Field Complex. The champion was Coe College with 206.
Grinnell posted a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1500-meter run with
Adam Dalton,
Nathaniel Crail and
Anthony McLean running 4:07.17, 4:12.07 and 4:13.77, respectively.
Other runners-up for the Pioneers were
Colton Silvia in the 400 (51.46),
Aidan Healey in the 3000 steeplechase (11:11.29), the 4x400 relay team of
Ed Hardman,
Jonathan Braun, Silvia and Crail (3:27.48) and
James Page in the javelin (41.10 meters).
Third place went to the 4x100 relay team of Hardman, Braun,
Ibuki Ogasawara and Silvia (47.72) and Ogasawara in the pole vault (3.30 meters) and triple jump (11.91 meters).
