RESULTS
The Grinnell Men's Track and Field Team took to the track at Grinnell College competing for the Midwest Conference Championship. While placing 6
th as a team, two runners,
Nate Kolacia and
Adam Dalton, both placed 1
st in two events. Both running in their final meets before graduating in the coming days, they turned in memorable performances that people will remember for years to come.
Kolacia took victories in both the 800 and the mile, narrowly beating out 2
nd place finishes from Carroll in both races. In the 800, he narrowly missed the school, and his own, record by posting a time of 1:53.45, only .15 seconds off the mark to beat. Then, in the 1500m, he ran an incredible 3:59.05, with the only time at the meet under 4 minutes. These victories propelled Kolacia to be named the Track Performer of the Year for the meet.
Adam "Salty" Dalton continued Grinnell's dominance in the distance events by taking victories in both the 5000m and the 10,000m. For the 5000m, Dalton won with a time of 15:42.27, beating out the competition by just over 3 seconds. In the 10,000m Dalton won by a much wider margin while posting a time of 32:46.06, over 15 seconds faster than the rest of the field.
The Grinnell Men's team posted scores by many other athletes as well.
Ed Hardman placed 8
th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.45.
Kevin Anderson also placed in the 800m, with a time of 1:59.75 earning him 8
th place.
John Lennon placed in 8
th during the 1500m with a time of 4:10.39. Two other runners,
Anthony McLean and
John Lennon, added to the Grinnell College distance dominance with 4
th and 6
th place finishes in the 5000m, with times of 15:48.35 and 15:53.95 respectively. McLean also placed in the 10,000m with a time of 33:18.03, which earned him 3
rd place.
The Team's 4x400m relay squad also placed 6
th at the meet, with
Ed Hardman,
Jonathan Braun,
Nathaniel Crail, and
Colton Silvia all contributing to a time of 3:27.23.
Moving to the field events,
Ibuki Ogasawara placed 6
th in the Pole Vault, with a score of 3.95m, and also placed 8
th in the Triple Jump, with a jump of 12.03m. Also,
James Page in the Javelin Throw placed 7
th, with a toss of 46.19m. Â
Aidan Healey also earned the Elite 20 Award of the meet, for having the highest GPA for his sport. Healey competed in the Steeplechase at the meet, and posted a time of 11:04.09. Â
