OWATONNA, Minn. – Grinnell College's men's tennis team came away with a split in Sunday matches at the Owatonna Tennis Center.

The Pioneers lost a 6-3 decision to Carleton College in a battle of regionally-ranked teams before toppling Saint John's University 8-1.

Grinnell, ranked 14th in the Central Region, swept doubles play against Saint John's with the teams of
Jose Coloma '19-
Tommy Pitcher '17 (8-2),
Cole Miller '17-
Sam Stickels '19 (8-6) and
Will Hamilton '17-Ben Cobin '20 (8-6).

In singles, Grinnell got wins from Miller at No. 1 (6-3, 6-3), Stickels at No. 2 (6-1, 7-5), Pitcher at No. 4 (6-4, 6-1), Cobin at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2) and
Raghu Inturi '20 at No. 6 (6-2, 6-3).

Grinnell won two of three doubles matches against Carleton, ranked 13th in the Central Region, with Coloma and Pitcher winning 8-6 at the top spot and Miller and Stickels posting an 8-5 decision at No. 2.

Pitcher was Grinnell's lone singles winner, taking the No. 5 match 6-3, 6-0.

The Pioneers are now 3-1 on the season.
