GRINNELL, Iowa – Playing as a split squad, the Grinnell College men's tennis team had no problem collecting two victories Saturday.

The Pioneers posted 7-2 wins over Grand View University and Illinois College at separate sites to improve to 14-9 on the season. The win over Illinois College secured another Midwest Conference Team Tournament bid for the Pioneers as they stayed perfect in league play at 6-0.

Grinnell won Nos. 1 through 3 singles against Illinois College with
Cole Miller '17 (2-6, 7-6, 10-7),
Tommy Pitcher '17 (6-1, 6-2) and
Henry Johnson '20 (6-1, 6-0).
Arlo Detmer '20 and
Peter Sills '18 posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at Nos. 5 and 6.

In doubles,
Lucas LeDoux '19 and Johnson won 9-7 at No. 2 and Detmer and Sills posted an 8-0 victory at No. 3.

Grinnell won Nos. 2 through 6 singles against Grand View with
Zach Lane '19 (6-2, 6-1),
Will Hamilton '17 (6-3, 6-3),
Ben Cobin '20 (6-0, 6-4),
Raghu Inturi '20 (6-2, 6-0) and
Jack Lunn '20 (6-0, 6-2).

Hamilton and Cobin won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and Lane and Lunn earned an 8-0 decision at No. 3.

Miller moved into seventh place in career singles and doubles wins at Grinnell with 67 and 79, respectively. Pitcher is ninth in career doubles victories with 73.

The Pioneers look to close out a perfect MWC season Sunday with matches against Monmouth College and Knox College.
