Grinnell men's tennis team remains perfect in MWC play

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College's men's tennis record in Midwest Conference play remained unblemished Sunday as the Pioneers shut out Lake Forest College 9-0.
 
Cole Miller '17, Sam Stickels '19, Tommy Pitcher '17, Will Hamilton '17, Ben Cobin '20 and Raghu Inturi '20 all were double winners for the 12-9 Pioneers, who won their 78th match in a row in league play and 130th consecutive against MWC foes overall.
 
Cobin gave up just one game in winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Hamilton surrendered just two in winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.
 
Miller won 6-5, retired at No. 1, Stickels won 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2, Pitcher was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 3 and Inturi earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
 
In doubles, winners were the teams of Pitcher-Miller (8-5), Inturi-Stickels (9-7) and Hamilton-Cobin (9-8).
 
Miller now ranks seventh for the Pioneers in career doubles wins with 79, while Pitcher is ninth with 73. In singles, Pitcher moved into the No. 10 spot with 65 career victories.
 
The Pioneers play Grand View College and Illinois College on April 22.
