GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College fell behind early and couldn't come back as St. Norbert College earned a 66-13 football win Saturday at Rosenbloom Field.
The Pioneers managed 173 yards through the air, with
Tony Bergida '18 completing 18-of-36 passes for 143 yards. He's now just five yards shy of 1,900 for his career.
David Taylor '20 added 120 receiving yards on six catches. Pacing the defense were preseason All-American
Ryan Slager '19 with 13 tackles, D3football.com Team of the Week selection
Hassan Thompson '19 with 12 and
Jordan Hall '20 with 11.
St. Norbert led 24-0 after one period and was up 38-0 when Grinnell got on the board as
Connor Headrick '21 had the first TD pass of his Pioneer career, a 30-yard strike to Taylor. A roughing the passer penalty aided the drive.
The extra point was no good, leaving it 38-6 with 7:25 to go in the half.
St. Norbert led 52-6 at intermission before Grinnell added another TD, a 2-yard run by
Reed Winter '21 - the first TD of his collebiate creer. The eight-play, 60-yard drive included a 34-yard pass from Bergida to Taylor.
Anaan Ramay '20 booted the extra point, making it 52-13 with 7:20 to go in the third period.
The Green Knights, who are 1-2, added two more scores after that.
Grinnell, 1-2, is on the road next Saturday for a contest at Ripon College. Action begins at 1 p.m.
